The XIX REAF hosts a presentation on the International Year of Family Farming 2014 in Uruguay.

The XIX Specialized Meeting on Family Farming(REAF) in Mercosur, held between 27 and 30 May in Atlantida (Uruguay), hosted on 29 May a presentation to the media on the International Year of Family Farming 2014, which highlighted that the agricultural sector in the region is based on this model. Therefore, the IYFF-2014 is seen as “an opportunity to intensify” the work already being done to achieve differentiated policies for Family Farming.

More than 150 government officials and family farmers belonging to rural organizations, most of them coming from the countries that belong to MERCOSUR, have joined the XIX REAF. They have been working on various issues related to Family Farming, such as rural Youth, access to Land, and Risk Management and Climate Change, among others. Some spaces were also opened to prepare the IYFF-2014 as a framework for advocacy and awareness.

Within this broad program, the presentation on the IYFF-2014 expressed the following message (in Spanish).
